Background : The area of Kulonprogo is located in the south west of Yogyakarta province which is famous as Cultural City and its traditionalism. The project takes place in the area of fisheries especially raising fish and shrimps. Our organization cooperates with the local owner of fish and shrimps farming, and the volunteer will help the local people and staff doing daily activities in the farm.
Work: Volunteer will help the local staffs and villager to do activities in the fish and shrimps farm (such as feeding, cleaning the ponds etc). The presence of the volunteer also will be valuable especially for interaction with the local staffs and villagers such as teaching basic English conversation or joining the other local activities.
Study theme: The volunteers will be introduced to the Indonesian culture and customs in general, with a special focus on the local particularities. Some cultural visits are also foreseen.
Leisure Time: During free time, the volunteers will have the chance to visit tourism places nearby project sites.
Accommodation: The accommodation and food will be provided by a local host family or dormitory (to be confirmed). Facilities are simple and Indonesian style (no hot water, no washing machine).
Location: Yogyakarta, Java Island.
